Project Overview
MedConnect Health serves over 50 medical practices across the United States. They needed a unified patient portal that would allow patients to communicate with their care teams, schedule appointments, access medical records, and participate in telehealth video consultations — all within a HIPAA-compliant environment.
The Challenge
Healthcare applications face some of the strictest regulatory requirements in any industry. Every feature needed to comply with HIPAA, HITECH, and state-level privacy regulations. The telehealth video system needed to work reliably across varying network conditions, and the platform had to integrate with multiple existing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
Our Solution
We built the portal on a HIPAA-compliant AWS infrastructure with end-to-end encryption. The Next.js frontend communicates with a Python FastAPI backend, with all data encrypted at rest and in transit. The telehealth system uses WebRTC with adaptive bitrate streaming and automatic fallback to audio-only mode. We implemented HL7 FHIR standards for EHR integration.
